Misconception of Science vs. Religion Found in New Study

A recent study done by Rice University has shown that science and religion are not as hostile towards one another as society would have you to believe. The study has opened the eyes of several institutions who recently believed that one either had to be a staunch candidate for science or religion. The study done shows that 50% percent of evangelicals  believe that science and religion can work together, and 18% of scientists attend religious services regularly compared with 20% of the general population. The information presented by the people at Rice University is the first of many studies coming out that hopes to help ease the tensions between two "opposing viewpoints", and  also hopes to show that these groups don't have to approach religion or science with an attitude of combat.

1. Scientist Working Together- the Rice University scientist worked together with the religious community during this study.
2. Scientist of Opposing Viewpoints/Ideas- The viewpoints of religion and science have always been in opposition, and this experiment bases its procedures on the opposite of this tension.

  1. That's really cool! I'm glad to see that people are working together to solve a dispute of opposing viewpoints. I personally believe that science and religion go hand in hand and that God planned it that way. So first of all, a lot of people take the bible for literal, which makes things confusing sometimes. Imagine if you were a man/woman in the time B.C. in Israel or something and people tried to tell you that humans were once bacteria and evolved over time to fish, reptiles, and then primates. Do you think anyone would believe that back then? It was more believable that God just made everything a finished product. I like to think that God told people the story of Adam and Eve because they weren't prepared to hear about evolution. Science and religion aren't enemies, they're partners.
